My name is Erin Lowry and I’ve been teaching ESL/FL for a little over three years. Right now, I’m an English Language Fellow (http://elf.georgetown.edu/) in San Salvador, El Salvador at the binational center there. In my former life, I was an IT person and programmer, so I’m also looking for new ways to incorporate technology into my teaching and my students’
learning. I’ve used blogs with students in the past, and am hoping that I’ll be able to find the time to start using them again with some of my teacher training projects here. Oh, and one of my resolutions for this year is to stop being an EVO lurker and start participating more actively!

Hi Erin,
I see that you linked here to 43 places and other tools (not yet to 43 things/43 places – it’s the same site tough). What are your thoughts on these? Useful? Any advantages in creating open learning environments for your students? How do you find WordPress in comparison with Blogger?

Hi, Erin! I was interested to see you are in El Salvador. I lived there from 1980-1982. It is a wonderful place and was even then in the midst of civil war.

You may want to write an “about” page which is static (instead of post, which is dynamic) to give information about yourself. In this way, this information is always at the top, visible and does not get buried in the archives after some posts.

Hello Erin! I find OPW session very interesting and I´m willing to share all my discoveries with you all.I´m still wondering about the privacy of most of the tools we are using.

I think I had not mentioned I love your colorful picture in the header section. Is it Colombia or El Salvador? It resembles our countryside towns in Venezuela, especially in The Andes region.

It’s Colombia…there’s not much colonial left in El Salvador. I took the picture in La Candelaria historical district in Bogotá. It’s one of my absolute favorite places in Colombia!
